“Home is where my Westie is”10

Geordie
Geordie was born on October on October 4, 2008.  My first puppy but not my first Westie.  We had previously lost our  adopted 7 year old Keltie to complications from a liver disease.  Geordie was the funniest little "bum" .  He loved everyone and everything.

Who would believe that this perfect little boy, who never damaged anything (except his toys),  was a lover:  children, adults, and all dogs  - would also be diagnosed with a chronic & fatal liver disease?

Geordie was my "therapy" dog.  He gave me a reason to get out of bed everyday.  We said 'hello' to everyone when we went on our walks.  He was particularly gentle with small  & timid children.  Our lives revolved around this LWD.

Geordie took medications like a trooper, and for the past month was diagnosed with diabetes.  He bowed his head to receive his twice daily insulin injections in the scruff of his neck without objection.  He was just so good.

Last Tues. May 21, 2019 it was obvious Geordie was in trouble.  A rush visit to the Internal Medicine Vet. revealed that Geordie was in liver failure.  The decision to put him down was made to end his suffering.

Our home is empty, our memories are outstanding, the tears keep overflowing -all of our senses are missing Geordie.  10.5 years of wee Geordie at our heels....the pain is suffocating.

To all who have loved and lost their precious pet(s) we say:  we intend to share our love again.  We have gained so much from loving Geordie.  Memories, photos, relatives, friends, activities, WIN, groomers, Vets, toys, treats, baby carrots, cauliflower, car trips, off-leash parks, neighbourhood walks, crate - training, licking...so many memories.  RIP sweet Geordie.  You were so loved.
