Success Stories
Westies in Need (WiN) works very hard to match our wonderful dogs with equally wonderful new families. Here are some of our success stories!
Lilly's Story
One of our little rescues was named Lilly - she was the worst case of skin problems we had ever seen when she arrived into our rescue program. The Pet Network saw her info on our website and asked if they could do a story on our Lilly and our rescue. Click here to watch the video of Lilly and her journey...they did a great job and we can't thank the Pet Network enough for supporting us! Lilly says THANKS too!
A warm WELCOME to 10 yr old Westie-mix, Maggie May Elizabeth.
Maggie comes to us as an owner surrender, recently diagnosed with diabetes. Truly heart breaking, as her senior Mommy on a fixed income was challenged with the very high cost of vet care, medication and special food and just could not bare the vet's suggestion to put her down.
She will be having a follow-up vet visit this week for some bloodwork to make sure that she's on the proper dose of insulin.
Thank you to her foster Mommy for opening her heart and home to this sweet girl and her special needs.
An update...Maggie has been adopted! She has found a perfect and forever home
Welcome 2 new additions to our WiN rescue. Please welcome Jackpot (cutest little Cairn in the world) and Shilo (she is a Westie). These 2 sweethearts would like to stay together, so that is just what we will make sure happens!
An update...JackPot and Shilo have been adopted! They have found together their new and "fur"ever home with Lesley and her family.
An update the true success trajectory of this ultra sweet pair. They could not be any more different in temperament or personality.
Shilo, now 12 years old, has the energy of a 2 year old. As you can see she loves her toys and will play and chase by the hour, no exaggerating. She is silly beyond words, loves her pal Jack but tests his patience when her playfulness gets a bit too close. She loves her peeps but has very definite opinions of some folks and can be a most protective Westie. We have learned to harness her fears, if that is indeed at the core, and let her decide who she tolerates and those she does not wish to
.
Jack is now 11 and about as chill as a dog can possibly be. He loves his treats but can be very fussy about what goes in the dinner bowl. He is so very affectionate with the most intense, big, brown eyes staring deep into one’s soul or so it feels. If only we could read their minds. He is a bit of a nervous fellow and I occasionally wonder if Shilo’s protective nature comes from this aspect of her pal Jack.
This we will never know but are so very happy to have them bringing joy and smiles daily.
They are both excellent walkers, love the great outdoors but also enjoy sitting by the fire with their new best friends (two legged friends). We really do feel they came to settle with us with minimal difficulty or anxiety.
WIN is the success story here and we could not be happier to be sharing Shilo & Jack’s progress with the WIN community.
Thank you Corrie & team for all the excellent work you do.
Hugs,
Lesley, Richard, Shilo & Jack
WELCOME Tikka (2 yrs) & Hunter (7 yrs) a bonded pair who travelled yesterday (like troopers!!!) from Mattawa, ON to their new home in Quebec.
THANK YOU to all those who took part in transport ... we couldn't do what we do, without our amazing WiN volunteers!!!!!!
An update...Tikka and Hunter have been adopted! They have found their new and "fur"ever home and so happy to stay together!
Welcome Decker to our rescue. Our love and thanks to his family who contacted us asking for help to fin him a new home.
Decker is just 10 months old, neutered and is a cutie for sure!

Hey all, we need a HUGE Westies in Need welcome for our newest arrival, please say hi to Kenzie.
This 2 year old un-spayed girl (sorry Kenzie, but that is gonna happen!!!) is the SWEETEST girl. She has some skin issues that we are going to address right away (and you all know that skin never scares us!!!) and then she will be ready to join a new home.
Welcome Kenzie!
An update...Kenzie has been adopted! She has found her "fur"ever home with Star and her family and is such a happy her!

An update...both hansel and Gretel have been adopted. They are now part of two wonderful families who are so excited to have a new Westie addition!!!
This handsome 3 year old full Cairn is so full or energy!!! He needs to see our Vet to be neutered and then will be off to his new and "fur" ever new home!
An update...Maize has been adopted! His new name will be Toddy and he even gets a Westie brother, Scrumpy, to play with and they are already playing like two peas in a pod!!! What a great life for our boy!
Welcome 4 month old Peanut to Westies in Need!
Boy, I think we sometimes forget how active a Westie puppy is!!!! He is quite the boy for sure....he is too young to be neutered right now, but as soon as September rolls around.....sorry Peanut, but "the boys" will have to go!!!!
An update...Peanut has been adopted! He is loving his new home and is all booked for his neuter in the fall!
WELCOME 11 week old “Winston” who came into rescue with special needs.
Winston was born with a congenital eye disease. Winston has 50-60% vision now but over the next weeks/months he will become totally blind. He is just a darling boy and deserves the very best.
An update...Winston has been adopted by a family with experience in special needs, not only with blind dogs. This family adopted a Pug 7 years ago that was paralyzed and had a cart made for her to provide mobility. Puggle is now 11 years old and welcomes her Westie brother.
From all of us at WiN, we wish you many wonderful years Winston!!!!
Darling Jenny was found wandering by animal services, however when contacted her family chose not to claim her. She is 17 years old, partially deaf (she may see some shadows) and deaf, she ws released into our rescue.
Jenny needs to see our Vet for a very good check up and then we have to address her bad dental and then she will be off to find a new home.
Welcome Jenny!
An update...Jenny has been adopted! She has found a new home with Sue and her family!!!
Darling Maggie is 11 years old and comes to us as an owner surrender. She is just a tiny little girl and is as sweet as can be. Maggie would do best in a home with no other dog as she loves to have her human all to herself as she is such a cuddler!
Welcome Maggie
An update...Maggie has been adopted! She has found an amazing new family and will be the center of the household!
Old Blue Eyes...
OK...this one is not really a WiN Westie
... but when we found this old picture of Frank Sinatra with a sweet little Westie, we just knew we had to put it on our website, somewhere!!!
Can you blame us???
